A daily dose of spiritual exercise for men in various stages of their Christian walk

Imagine that you have been given a great tract of land to manage to provide for your family. The biggest part of the management plan is that you make the day-to-day decisions about running operations, but you must stay in constant contact with the owner about what’s going on and you must ask him to provide you with the best information available to help you make your decisions. Now, he has agreed to let you run the place, but has instructed you that he has an overall plan for you and your operation along with several others like you. As long as you stay in contact, don’t go off on your own, and don’t let your position go to your head, then the land will produce more than you need. This position includes a retirement promise of all expenses paid and eternal life. The downside is that the owner is very specific in his instructions that, if you do not follow his management plan, he will wait until someone is willing to do so and that person will get your position in his overall plan.

“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 19:26

That is the agreement from the Owner.

“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that the should always pray and not give up.” Luke 18:1

Always stay in contact. Always get your information from the Owner.

“You want something but you don’t get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God.” James 4:2

If you break communication, this is what happens.

Just remember: Above all things, you are a manager, not the Owner. Prayer is your conduit for regular, and as-needed, meetings with the Owner.
