Your Life

The further down the road I go with Jesus, the more amazing it seems to me that some folks don’t want to get closer to Him. I used to be there. I was at that point where I thought I knew enough and believed enough that I was good where I was. Sure, Jesus was down the road a ways, but I could still see Him. It was working for me.
Then, as I drew nearer to Him, I realized how silly it was to feel that way. If you stand still you forget the value of moving forward. It’s only when you move forward that you can tell the difference.
For far too many Christians, the Word is interesting study material and worthy debate content, but not much more. I thought of those Christians as I read the words Moses spoke as he sent the Israelites into the Promised Land:
“he said to them, “Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of the law. They are not just idle words for you - they are your life. By them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.” ” Deuteronomy 32:46-47
The Word is not a bunch of idle words. It is your life. If you choose to ignore it, you’re ignoring the life God has planned. If you just choose to know the Word, but not live it, that’s no different than ignoring it.
Treat the Word as your life.
