Once in a while, I see a clear picture of human nature that is so everyday in nature that it makes me smile. Look at these two verses:
“May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause; but I will meditate on your precepts.” Psalm 119:78
Here is a guy that really wants to shout one thing, but bites his lip. However, he cannot keep himself from bringing it up to God. In short, he’s saying, “I hope You get that guy for what he did to me and, when you do, I will be over here in the corner dutifully studying your word because I’m a good boy.”
Contrast it with this verse:
“Do not say, ‘I’ll pay you back for this wrong!’ Wait for the Lord, and he will deliver you.” Proverbs 20:22
Here we see that your attitude should be humility from the get go, not an afterthought. Any wrong done is against God, you may just be in the line of fire. God owns the whole situation. He will deliver you and the wrongdoer according to His will and timetable. Control your feelings and perspective and keep your eyes on God.
By the way, I don’t have this perfected, yet, and God knows it.
