A daily dose of spiritual exercise for men in various stages of their Christian walk

I often feel frustration when non-believers refuse to apply the same standards of proof to a non-Biblical point of view as they will to a Biblical one. I surmise it is because we claim, and rightfully so, that our view is perfect truth.

The Godhead is a good example of one of these speed bumps. A three-in-one God is a spooky point of view to anyone unfamiliar with the Bible. Entering into a discussion will ultimately converge upon that idea that a plausible explanation is required to explain this three-in-oneness. The believer’s only answer is that it’s a mystery how God is put together or how He got that way. The fact is that the secular world is in no better shape when it comes to a natural explanation as to the how and why of things. The universe is estimated to have a radius of ten billion light years and that’s just the part that’s detectable. We know so little about its origin and its size that it’s laughable to consider that natural science knows any more about the universe than we know about how the Godhead is glued together. Therefore, to say it is a mystery should not be a surprise. There is more mystery in the world than there is known fact. And that’s a fact!

We have a supernatural source for our information and that’s just as valid as a theory. Our information has a history and is traceable to a point. That’s as good as any natural scientist can claim.

“Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized, and while He was praying, heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.” ” Luke 3:21-22

This passage from Luke is not the only example of the trinity, but it’s very clear that all three are here during a single event. It’s a mystery to be sure, but it’s a beautiful one.
