A daily dose of spiritual exercise for men in various stages of their Christian walk

There are moments when I read the news and watch our politicians at work when I ask, “Are they all insane?” It’s like reading a science-fiction story with some preposterous setup to a major event. It couldn’t possibly happen that way, except for the fact that I’m watching it unfold in front of me. I feel like I’m one of a small minority that remembers how logic and basic math works. So many decisions about so much money seem to ignore the laws of economics, the laws of physics, and sometimes the boundaries of reality.

However, I take heart when I read this:

“Vindicate me, O God,
and plead my cause against an ungodly nation;
rescue me from deceitful and wicked men.” Psalm 43:1

David is talking about not just being in the philosophical minority, but being in physical danger from those who would not hear his side of the story. Still, I’m encouraged by this call to God to vindicate right actions and right thinking regardless of overwhelming, but misguided, public opinion.

I know it may not be today or tomorrow or even this year. However, I do know that before it’s all over, God will vindicate the truth. He will vindicate reality and right thinking and right actions. I just have to lean on that.

David did that, too:

“Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.” Psalm 43:5

It’ll rarely be as fast as you want, but He will come through in the end.
