A daily dose of spiritual exercise for men in various stages of their Christian walk

I will admit to getting easily caught up in playoff fever when my team is in the mix. I find myself reading every snippet, watching every highlight reel, and listening to every interview. The Internet only feeds my addiction.

I haven’t ever been to a playoff game, but I can easily imagine getting swept up in the emotion and energy of such a game. Otherwise normal adults will dance like children, wear face-paint, wave silly signs, scream and yell, high five, and belly bump complete strangers all because they’re rooting for the same team. That’s some excitement! That’s passion!

Do you see that same passion on Sunday morning? I know, I know. It’s an old sermon talking point to compare sporting events to Sunday services, but there’s a nugget of truth in there. Do you come with the same excitement? the same anticipation of experiencing something special? the same passion to be part of what happens?

That’s the feeling I get when I read this:

“Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.

Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.

Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,

praise him with tambourine and dancing,
praise him with the strings and flute,

praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD.” Psalm 150

Stand up and cheer!
