A daily dose of spiritual exercise for men in various stages of their Christian walk

You know there are times when we are jealous of the apparent freedom of the lost. Those are the times when they seem to be having all the fun and success. This leads to a jealousy of those that profess to be saved, but don’t walk the walk. These are the Christians that are not up to their ears in good works and volunteering. They miss services because they choose to do other things on Sunday or Wednesday night. They defer church for fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, and here we are giving up our weekends doing the right thing. Is that fair?

Salvation is not based on a commitment to be saved and volunteering the rest of your time to good works. There is nothing to prove and none to impress. Also, if we see brothers and sisters involved in activities we regard as sinful, we often wonder how it is possible that they get to do that stuff and still go to Heaven. What’s with that?

Who really knows who is saved and who is not? The individual and God are the innermost circle. It is all about profession versus possession.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.” Matthew 7:21

On the other hand,

“He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.” Titus 3:5

Relieve yourself of judgement of the deeds of others as it concerns their relationship with God and concentrate on your own. As actions concern sin, remember this:

“Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.” 1 John 3:15

If our actions do not condemn us, our thoughts will.
