A daily dose of spiritual exercise for men in various stages of their Christian walk

Yesterday, I wrote about having confidence in God. I pointed out how we want to depend on ourselves, but God is even more dependable that anything we can touch or control.

But, what happens when you place your confidence in Him and you don’t see Him coming through? What happens when you bet the farm and the farm is lost? Is that evidence of misplaced confidence? Is that proof that He’s undependable?

Hardly:

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” Hebrews 10:35-36

We want to measure success by the outcome of a situation. The problem is that we won’t know the final outcomes until we’re in Heaven. Just because it didn’t go right today, doesn’t mean that it won’t end up being the best thing that happened to you in a year or a decade. Don’t judge God’s performance on human timelines.

Do not give up on Him. He hasn’t gone anywhere. He’s going to come through and prove that your confidence was well-placed. You just can’t predict exactly how that will look.

Hang on. He’s still there. Don’t throw it away now.
