A daily dose of spiritual exercise for men in various stages of their Christian walk

How do you view the world? Do you see a society that doesn’t know God, but is otherwise innocuous? Do you see a society that is actively trying to drag people away from God? Or, do you see people and institutions that desperately need God?

I believe that as a Christian matures, he sees the unsaved in different ways. It’s easy to think of them as the enemy or the skeptic and treat them as opponents. It’s much harder, but much truer, to see them as lost and broken people who need Jesus just as much as we did. The world opposes us. The people in the world are just lost. I’m not absolving them of guilt, only trying to shine them in a light that would generate more grace on our part.

I don’t know why, but reading these lines from Paul reminded me not to become jaded and stay graceful and merciful with the population of the world around me:

“To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.” Titus 1:15-16

I need to think like Jesus and live like Jesus to see the potential in all people. I cannot let my human nature corrupt my mind to the point where I claim to know God, but I deny Him by the way I live.

How do you look at the world? How about the people in it?
