Bigger Fish to Fry

Man always has the capacity to disappoint. It’s his very nature. Folks, we are flawed and no amount of legislation will perfect the bent we have to desire more power and money. The big flap currently in the news about the reported lies that have been told about the climate is just one more example of why God does not allow man to be in charge of anything. He has contained us in a sandbox like so many unruly and disobedient children. There we can play our games, stake out territory, and steal from each other. We think we are in control, but in the grand scheme of things we are so insignificant that if God did not love us, we would have become extinct long ago.
Think of the size of the earth and realize that we can only claim knowledge of less than 25 percent of it (since we’re pretty clueless about the ocean floor). Now, think of the size of the known universe and the speculated unknown universe. Compare man and his knowledge (minus all that stuff we’re wrong or lie about) against that backdrop and somehow calculate the significance of man without an eternal God to love him.
Now, think of the recorded history we have in place concerning Jesus Christ and consider the uniqueness of the Man. Any knowledge man has uncovered pales in the light of a man that died and, on the third day, came back to life. He did not come back as a ghost, an orb in a picture, a reading on a meter, a cold draft, or any of that stuff. He came back, walked, talked, taught, defied all “natural law”, and then did what He said He was going to do again. He left the earth and went someplace else in front of witnesses.
Just how small is small and how big is big? Man is small and God is big. Climate change is the least of man’s worries. Turning from his creator and his inhumane treatment of his brother should be his focus.
“And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. They also said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.’ ” Acts 1:9-12
