Infidelity on the part of someone famous seems to be a weekly occurrence. Our voyeurism approach to bad behavior is a blight on the character of society. We use other people’s bad behavior as a gauge to somehow justify our own sin.
I have hunted for much of my life and I have observed some behavior patterns in game that God has implanted for preservation. Good examples are elk and mule deer. When you catch a big bull or buck out in the open, it is a rare treat. Most of the time they hang close to the harem by staying under cover and a bit away from the herd. After all, you don’t get the big horns by trotting around out in the open acting like a teenager trying to impress the girls. That’s just a good way to end up in a meat locker. Men often find it easy to run with the herd when the herd is painting their faces, drinking too much, and acting like teenagers trying to impress the girls. When we get older, we get a bit more dignified and gather around a golf course while drinking too much, acting like fools, and trying to impress middle-aged women.
When it come to protection against sin, we ought to take a tip from the surviving old bulls and bucks. How many guys do you know that have been married over twenty years to the same woman? We really owe these guys a listen.
“With her many persuasions she entices him;
with her flattering lips she seduces him.
Suddenly he follows her
As an ox goes to the slaughter,
Or as one in fetters to the discipline of a fool,
Until an arrow pierces through his liver;
As a bird hastens to the snare,
So he does not know that it will cost him his life.” Proverbs 7:21-23
