Confident Soldiers
Filed Under Devotional
When things seem to be falling apart, there is incredible power in simply having a plan. The panic only increases when the leaders are panicking, too. When the troops are beaten and retreating, they can be immediately energized by seeing a leader giving orders to reorganize and fight back. Just knowing that someone in authority has a plan is comforting and encouraging.
Furthermore, that same feeling can be further stabilized if the planners aren’t surprised by the current situation. There’s a significant difference in confidence between, “Okay, we thought that might happen. Here’s our plan to respond,” and, “They did what? We weren’t ready for that! Uh, let’s figure something out, quick!”
So, if you didn’t already have confidence in God, I’ll point out that He has plans:
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
He also is unsurprised:
“I make known the end from the beginning,
from ancient times, what is still to come.
I say: My purpose will stand,
and I will do all that I please.” Isaiah 46:10
“Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
his understanding has no limit.” Psalm 147:5
God has know all that did happen and all that will happen. He is not surprised by anything. Ever. And, because He knows all of this, He has plans. He has plans for all of us and for everything.
No matter how bad the battle goes, the commander has plans to win the war.
Be confident that our Leader is unflappable and infinitely prepared.
