Seeing the Invisible
I’m a fan of mind benders, logic puzzles, and other games that make you think. A common theme with these activities is that the goal appears to be impossible at first glance. But, of course, it isn’t or there wouldn’t be any game to it. The challenge is to try to ignore the common paths your brain wants to take and come up with something uncommon. Seeing through to the deeper solution is the end goal and it can be gratifying if you’re into that sort of thing.
So, one difficulty we have in sharing God with others is that He is invisible. It’s not like we’re introducing people to a good friend that you can bring along. It’s our job to introduce them to someone who does not speak audibly (very often) and who cannot be seen.
Again, John leads us to think outside the box:
“No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” 1 John 4:12
John makes the point that you cannot see God, but the evidence of His existence within us can be clear and obvious if we love one another. Actions speak louder than words. By following Jesus and doing His will, we can help people see our invisible God.
See? It’s not impossible.
